Today, I made a cute pouch that can be used for multiple purposes. I think it would be nice to use it as a wallet or cosmetic pouch. You will learn how to add a front pocket with a rounded shape on one side.
How to make a Pouch Bag with Front Pocket
The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 6″(15㎝) W × 5″(12.5㎝) H × 1¼″(3㎝) D.
You may watch the full video tutorial on my Youtube channel.
Share this video with a lot of people who need it.
Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.
Let's get started!!
To make this you will need:
Main Fabric
1 7⅛″ × 11⅞″ (18㎝ × 30㎝) Outer layer
1 7⅛″ × 11⅞″ (18㎝ × 30㎝ Lining
1 6⅜″ × 11⅛″ (16㎝ × 28㎝) Fusible fleece
Front Pocket
1 6½″ × 4⅜″ (16.5㎝ × 11㎝) Outer layer
1 6½″ × 4⅜″ (16.5㎝ × 11㎝) Lining
1 5¾″ × 3⅝″ (14.5㎝ × 9㎝) Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing
2 6″ (15㎝) Zipper
2 1¼″ × 1¼″ (3㎝ × 3㎝) Zipper Stop Fabric
The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.
Place the zipper in a curved shape on the outer pocket. Sew with a seam allowance of 1/4″.
Place the lining, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top and bottom edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Turn right side out. Press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.
Place the outer layer of the main fabric to the other side of the zip. Using your zipper foot, sew using a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Close the zipper to hold the shape. Sew the side and bottom of the pocket to the main fabric.
With assembled outer layer right side up, center zipper right side facing down along top edge. Place the lining, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.
Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.
Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together. Sew both sides with 3/8” seam allowance. At this time, leave an opening on the lining.
Draw a 5/8″ square on the bottom edge, excluding the seam allowance. Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed.
Sew the triangular bottom corners.
Turn out our purse through the hole that we left not stitched. After this, sew up this hole, and the pouch bag is ready!
YOU ARE FINISHED!
Happy sewing!
