DIY Box Pencil Case

It is a pencil case with top zipper in the shape of a box.
This box pouch has a lovely lace decoration next to the zipper.
You can easily make this by performing step by step while watching the video.

Zippered Box Pouch Sewing Tutorial

The finished measurements of this pouch are approximately  8″(20㎝) W × 2″(5㎝) H ×2¾″(7㎝) D.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( quilting cotton ) – 1/4 yard
2  11½″ × 5 5/16″ ( 29㎝ × 13.5㎝ )
2  1¼″ × 2″ ( 3㎝ × 5㎝ )

Lining ( quilting cotton ) – 1/4 yard
2  11½″ × 5 5/16″ ( 29㎝ × 13.5㎝ )

Zipper
1  8″(20㎝)

Interfacing (Fusible Fleece – 987F Fusible Fleece or Vilene H630)
2  11½″ × 5 5/16″ ( 29㎝ × 13.5㎝ )

3㎝(1¼″) wide Lace trim ribbon – 17½″(44㎝)

 

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Fuse the fusible fleece, to the wrong side of the outer.
Draw the pattern.
And cut the outer and lining into the shape of the pattern.

Place Lace trim ribbon the top of the outer layer.
Pin and sew with an allowance of about 1/4″.

Place the zipper centred on the wrong side of the lining.
Place the outer layer on top of the zip.
Use pins while sewing a 3/8” from the raw edge down the zipper starting on the zipper tab and finishing on the other zipper tab.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

Repeat for the second side.

Place the right sides together of the outer.
and place the right sides together of the lining.
Then sew the side and bottom line.

Turn out the pencil case through the opening.

Sew up this opening, and the box pencil case is ready!
