Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.
Let's get started!!
To make this you will need:
Outer layer ( Quilting Cotton )
2 10¾″ × 5¾″ (27㎝ × 14.5㎝)
2 10¾″ × 1¾″ (27㎝ × 4.5㎝)
1 4¾″ × 19½″ (12㎝ × 49.5㎝)
1 4¾″ × 12⅝″ (12㎝ × 32㎝)
Lining ( Quilting Cotton )
2 10¾″ × 5¾″ (27㎝ × 14.5㎝)
2 10¾″ × 1¾″ (27㎝ × 4.5㎝)
1 4¾″ × 19½″ (12㎝ × 49.5㎝)
Zipper
1 10″(25㎝)
Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing (Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex’ or ‘Vilene G700’)
2 10¾″ × 5¾″ (27㎝ × 14.5㎝)
2 10¾″ × 1¾″ (27㎝ × 4.5㎝)
1 4¾″ × 19½″ (12㎝ × 49.5㎝)
1 4¾″ × 12⅝″ (12㎝ × 32㎝)
1⅝″(4㎝) wide bias tape 63¼″(160㎝)
The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.
Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern.
And fuse the interfacing, centered, to the wrong side.
Place the wrong sides together of the outer and lining and sew all the way around.
With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge. Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.
Place the handle on the right side of the zipper panel and sew both sides.
Layer an outer of the gusset face up, then the zipper panel face down, and then the lining face down. Sew both sides with an allowance of about 3/8″.
Turn right side out. Sew the outer and lining together with a seam allowance of 1/4″.
Pin the Gusset to the Main Panel, pinning first at the center. Then pin the ends in place. Continue to pin along only the straight edges of the Main Panel, there is no fiddling for these points. With sharp scissors make small snips on the gusset at the round shape of the main panel. The small snips will help the curved edge of the pouch.
Pin the bias tape to the details. The bias tape is placed and pinned as pictured, stitch up to the end. Stitch from the right side seam into seam, or sew manually from the backside.
YOU ARE FINISHED!
Happy sewing!
