DIY Double Layer Pencil Case Sewing Tutorial

◆ Bottom Panel
① 9⅛″ × 4⅜″ (23㎝ × 11㎝) Outer layer
③ 9⅛″ × 4⅜″ (23㎝ × 11㎝) Lining
② 9⅛″ × 4⅜″ (23㎝ × 11㎝) Fusible fleece

With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge. Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance. Open out, press pieces away from the zipper.
Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.

Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

Bring the two sides of the edge together and sew them together to form a corner. Make a total of four corners.
Place the wrong sides together of the outer and lining and sew the edges.

Place the handle on the short side panel of the outer layer and sew. And place the right sides together of the two side panel of outer layer and sew to make them the same length as the lining.
With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge. Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on 1/8” away from the zipper.

Place the right sides together of the zipper panel and back panel and sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Place the right sides together of the other side of the back panel and the other side of the zipper panel and sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Place and sew the zippered portion of the side panel on the outside of the main panel.

Place and sew them on the bottom panel. The small snips will help the side panel adapt to the curved edge of the main panel.
Place and sew bias tape on the seam allowance. Fold the bias twice, cover the seam allowance, and sew.

Attach the other bottom to the other side of the side panel the same way.
