DIY Flower Pouch Bag (free pattern)

Here’s a beautiful flower-shaped drawstring bag.
You can make with just a little fabric, thread and a piece of ribbon!
And it’s a great way to give a gift or to carry pretty much anything.
You can personalize it for thoughtful gift giving by varying the fabric, the drawstring, adding embroidery, tags and even charms.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( quilting cotton )
2   7½″ × 11″ (18.5㎝ × 27.5㎝)

Contrast Color Fabric ( quilting cotton )
2   7½″ × 11″ (18.5㎝ × 27.5㎝)
1   1½″ × 6″ (4㎝ × 20㎝)

2   Cotton Cord 21¾″ (55㎝)

Fold the strip fabric in half, wrong sides together to make a crease.
Then fold each edge in toward the middle and press.
Stitch along both long edges of the strip, 1/8” from the edge.
Then place the strip on the outer layer and baste with long stitch.

Place the right sides together of the outer and sew with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving 5/8″(1.5㎝) hole on the both sides.

Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed.
Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Turn right side out.

Place the right sides together of the lining and sew with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a 2-inch opening.
Then combine the seams so that a flat base is formed.
Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

The outer and lining are finished.

Place and pin the outer lining of the bag over the top of the inner lining with the right sides together.
Sew carefully and slowly to match the shape of the pattern.

Trim the seam with sharp shears.
Turn it right side out by pulling the fabric through the opening.
Then, press, pin and topstitch around top.

Sew up this opening.

Attach a safety pin on one end of string and thread it through the first hole, going all around and coming out in the hole next to it.
Attach a safety pin to your other string and starting on the opposite side, do the same thing.
Knot the two ends of ribbon on each side together.

Full and cinched closed.

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
