DIY Star Origami Pouch

Today, I made a cute zipper pouch with an origami method.
This flat pouch is in the shape of a hexagon. When you hold things and lift the pouch by holding a small handle, it becomes a star or a jar.
Let’s make a fun mini pouch together.

How to make a shape changing pouch

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 6″ (15㎝) W × 5″(12.5㎝) H × 2¾″(7㎝) D.

You may watch the full video tutorial on my Youtube channel.

Share this video with a lot of people who need it.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( quilting cotton )
2   10¾″ × 6⅜″(27㎝ × 16㎝)
2   1⅝″ × 3¾″(4㎝ × 9.5㎝)

Lining ( quilting cotton )
2   10¾″ × 6⅜″(27㎝ × 16㎝)

Zipper
1   6″(15㎝)

Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing (Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex’ or ‘Vilene G700’)
2   10¾″ × 6⅜″(27㎝ × 16㎝)

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Fold in half outer and lining and sew top edge with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Turn inside out and fold it into a triangle shape.

Fold and press so that the top touches the floor. Sew the folded part to fix it.(Only the front one should be sewn.)

Fold twice the small piece of fabric to make the handle. Place the handle on the front sheet and sew.

With assembled outer layer right side up, center zipper right side facing down along top edge. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance. (Only the front one should be sewn.)

Place the lining, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Use the same process to sew the zipper to the other side of the bag pieces.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a 2-inch opening.

Turn out our star zipper pouch through the hole that we left not stitched. After this, sew up this hole by manually.

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
