DIY Mini Pouch Bag

I am always looking for ways to use my scraps and I just love these mini pouch bag so I thought I would make one in about 30 minutes or so.
It is super simple to make and requires only basic sewing skills to complete.
This is truly a scrap worthy project. Just a small amount of fabric, a metal zipper will result in this terrific little coin purse.

Wide Open Coin Purse Sewing Tutorial

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 6″(15㎝) W × 2¾″(7㎝) H × 2″(5㎝) D.

You may watch the full video tutorial on my Youtube channel.

Share this video with a lot of people who need it.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( quilting cotton )
2   8¾″ × 3½″ ( 22㎝ × 9㎝ )

Lining ( quilting cotton )
2   8¾″ × 3½″ ( 22㎝ × 9㎝ )

Zipper
1   8″(20㎝)

Interfacing (Mid-weight woven – Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex’ or ‘Vilene G700’)
2   8¾″ × 3½″ ( 22㎝ × 9㎝ )

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

With assembled outer layer right side up, center zipper right side facing down (zipper pull at left) along top edge.

Place the lining, right side down on top. Pin in place.
Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Open out, press pieces away from the zipper.

Use the same process to sew the zipper to the other side of the pouch pieces.

Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together.
Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″ both ends.

Gather the stitched part in the center.
Sew up and down with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a 2-inch opening on the lining.

Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed.
Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

After this, sew up the openin, and the mini pouch bag is ready!

Happy sewing!
