Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.
Let's get started!!
To make this you will need:
◆ Main Panel
② 11⅛″ × 2⅝″ (28㎝ × 6.5㎝) Outer layer
② 11⅞″ × 4¼″ (30㎝ × 10.5㎝) Contrast Color Fabric
② 11⅞″ × 6″ (30㎝ × 15㎝) Lining
② 11⅛″ × 5⅛″ (28㎝ × 13㎝) Fusible fleece
◆ Handle
① 3¼″ × 4¾″ (8㎝ × 12㎝) Contrast Color Fabric
◆ Zipper
① 8″ (20㎝)
◆ Zipper Tab
① 3¼″ × 2″ (8㎝ × 5㎝) Outer layer
Place the right sides together of the outer layer and color contrast fabric and sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.
Open out and open the seams.
Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern. Attach the interfacing to the center of the wrong side of the fabric. Cut by adding 3/8” from the edge of the interfacing.
Fold the handle pieces in half, wrong sides together to make a crease. Then fold each edge in toward the middle and press. Stitch along both long edges of the strip, 1/8” from the edge. Fold in half to make your handle.
Use the same process to sew the zipper tap.
With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge. Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Open out, press pieces away from the zipper. Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.
Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together. Sew the sides
Turn right side out. Sew the handle and zipper tap to the side of the outer layer.
Turn right side in. Sew the bottoms, leaving an opening on the lining.
Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.
Combine the top seams so that a flat edge is formed. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.
Turn out our pencil case through the hole that we left not stitched. After this, sew up this hole, and the pencil case is ready!
YOU ARE FINISHED!
Happy sewing!
