DIY ROUND PURSE BAG (Free Pattern)

Today I made a round-shaped crossbody bag with blue striped fabric.
It looks cool, so it would be nice to wear it in summer.
It has a front pocket, an inside pocket, handles and a strap.
You can also make this bag using the pattern I shared.

Circle Crossbody Bag Tutorial & Free Pattern

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 8″(20㎝) W × 8″(20㎝) H × 2¾″(7㎝) D.

You may watch the full video tutorial on my Youtube channel.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( quilting cotton )
2   8¾″ × 8¾″ (22㎝ × 22㎝)
1   8¾″ × 6¼″ (22㎝ × 15.7㎝)
2   12¾″ × 2″ (32㎝ × 5㎝)
1   13⅝″ × 3½″ (34.8㎝ × 9㎝)
1   6½″ × 8¾″ (16.5㎝ × 22㎝)
2   3¼″ × 7⅛″ (8㎝ × 18㎝)
1   3¼″ × 4″ (8㎝ × 10㎝)

Lining ( quilting cotton )
2   8¾″ × 8¾″ (22㎝ × 22㎝)
1   8¾″ × 6¼″ (22㎝ × 15.7㎝)
2   12¾″ × 2″ (32㎝ × 5㎝)
1   13⅝″ × 3½″ (34.8㎝ × 9㎝)
1    6½″ × 8¾″ (16.5㎝ × 22㎝)

Interfacing (Mid-weight woven – Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex’ or ‘Vilene G700’)
2   8¾″ × 8¾″ (22㎝ × 22㎝)
1   8¾″ × 6¼″ (22㎝ × 15.7㎝)
2   12¾″ × 2″ (32㎝ × 5㎝)
1   13⅝″ × 3½″ (34.8㎝ × 9㎝)
1   6½″ × 4⅜″ (16.5㎝ × 11㎝)

Zipper
1   12″(30㎝)

1½″(4㎝) Wide Bias tape – 10¼″(26㎝)

1   Strip of 3/4″ (2㎝) wide Webbing Strap 53⅜″(135㎝)

2   3/4″ (2㎝) wide D ring
2   3/4″ (2㎝) wide Swivel Snap
1   3/4″ (2㎝) wide Triglides Slide

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern.
And fuse the fusible interfacing, centered, to the wrong side.

Place the wrong sides together of the outer and lining of the outside pocket.

The bias tape is placed and pinned as pictured, stitch up to the end.
Stitch from the right side seam into seam, or sew manually from the backside.

Place the outside pocket on the front fabric of the bag.
Pin and sew just the way around.

With assembled outer layer right side up, center zipper right side facing down along top edge.
Pin in place.
Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Use the same process to sew the zipper to the other side of the bag pieces.

Make a circle by sewing the both ends or the zipper panel and the Gusset.

Pin the Gusset to the Main Panel, pinning first at the quater.
Continue to pin along only the edges of the Main Panel, there is no fiddling for these points.
With sharp scissors make small snips on the gusset.
The small snips will help the curved edge of the bag.
Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Make the lining without a zipper.
Then, place and pin the outer layer and lining with the wrong sides together.

Hand-sewn the outer and lining together around the zipper.

YOU ARE FINISHED!
