DIY Snap Coin Purse – Sewing Pattern & Tutorial

This Snap Coin Purse is a cute yet multi useful pouch for you to make. You can use it as a coin purse or earphone holder or a small cosmetic pouch. I’ve shared a pattern so you can make this.

Double Snap Coin Pouch Tutorial

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 5″(12.5㎝) W × 3¼″(8㎝) H.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( Quilting Cotton )
1   5¾″ × 6⅛″ (14.5㎝ × 16㎝)
1   5¾″ × 3¾″ (14.5㎝ × 9.5㎝)

Lining ( Quilting Cotton )
3   5¾″ × 6⅛″ (14.5㎝ × 16㎝)
1   5¾″ × 3¾″ (14.5㎝ × 9.5㎝)

Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing (Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex’ or ‘Vilene G700’)
2   5″ × 5⅝″ (12.5㎝ × 14㎝)
1   5″ × 3″ (12.5㎝ × 7.5㎝)

Plastic snap buttons

Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern. Fuse the interfacing, centered, to the wrong side.

Place the right sides together of the outer and lining of the front pocket and sew the top with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Turn it right side out. Press and topstitch the edge.

Place the right sides together of the outer and lining. Sew only the upper part except for the lower 3″.

With sharp scissors make small snips on curved sides.

Turn it right side out. Press and topstitch around the edges.

Place and sew the front pocket, right side up on top.

Layer an lining (main fabric) piece face up, then the pocket face up, and then the outer face down. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″ , leaving a 2-inch opening.

With sharp scissors make small snips on curved sides.

Turn out our coin pouch through the hole that we left not stitched. After this, topstitch around top edges.

Attach snap buttons.
