① 12½″ × 1¼″ (31.5㎝ × 3㎝) Fusible fleece
◆ Handle
① 2⅜″ × 13¾″ (6㎝ × 35㎝) Outer layer
◆ Piping Fabric
① 9⅞″ × 9⅞″ (25㎝ × 25㎝) Outer layer
◆ Others
① 5″ (12.5㎝) Zipper, ① 8″ (20㎝) Zipper
① 5/8″ (1.5㎝) Wide D-ring
① 5/8″ (1.5㎝) Wide Swivel Snap
① 1/8″ (3㎜) strip of cording 47½″ (120㎝)
Fold the fabric in half diagonally on the bias. Cut the fabric across the bias into 1¼″ wide strips.
Pin the ends of 2 strips together to form a right angle, with the wrong sides facing out. Sew across the corner, from 1 outside edge to the other.
Cut the seam allowance down to 1/4″. Open up the right angle and press the seam open.
Lay a strip of cording down the center of the wrong side of bias tape. Fold the strip over the piping and secure it with pins. Place the strip under the zipper foot and adjust the needle. Sew along the folded bias tape.
Place the right sides together of the outer and lining of the front pocket and sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on 1/8” away from the top.
Place the front pocket on the right side of the main panel and sew.
With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge. Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance. Open out, press pieces away from the zipper.
Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way. Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.
Place the back pocket on the right side of the main panel and sew.
Pin the piping the the right side of your fabric. Tuck the raw end of the piping into the folded end. Baste the piping to the fabric.
With assembled outer layer of the zipper panel right side up, center zipper right side facing down along top edge. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Sew the zipper panel and both sides of the gusset together.
Do this by marking the quarter of your main panel and the quarter of your side panel (these are attached to each other at this point but just fold the piece in half to find the center).
Now, using your quarter marks, start pining the top of your side panel around the perimeter of your top. Sew all the edges with an allowance of about 3/8″.
Fold the zipper panel of the lining inward by 3/8″.
Fold the top of the lining of the front panel of the main panel inward by 3/8″.
Turn the lining over to the right side. Insert the outer layer into the lining and align the openings. Sew the lining to the zipper with a blind stitch.
Attach the strap.
YOU ARE FINISHED!
Happy sewing!
