DIY Wristlet Clutch Bag

I made a nice clutch bag today using a very simple pattern. You can slip your hand through and carry it as a clutch bag, or snap on a removable wristlet strap and let the bag dangle from your wrist. Try making a practical bag at home yourself.

How to make a Color Block Bag

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 12¼″(31㎝) W × 9″(23㎝) H × 1¼″(3㎝) D.

You may watch the full video tutorial on my Youtube channel.

Share this video with a lot of people who need it.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( Quilting Cotton )
1   13″ × 9¾″ (33㎝ × 25㎝)
1   5¾″ × 9¾″ (14.5㎝ × 25㎝)
1   11⅛″ × 14¼″ (28㎝ × 13.5㎝)
1   9¾″ × 8¼″ (25㎝ × 21㎝)
1   3¼″ × 13¾″ (8㎝ × 35㎝)
1   3¼″ × 2″ (8㎝ × 5㎝)

Lining ( Quilting Cotton )
2   13″ × 9¾″ (33㎝ × 25㎝)
1   9″ × 10¼″ (23㎝ × 26㎝)
1   10¾″ × 12⅝″ (27㎝ × 32㎝)

Zipper
1  8″ (20㎝), 1  12″ (30㎝)

Fusible fleece (It is similar to Pellon 987F ‘ or ‘Vilene H630’)
2   12¼″ × 9″ (31㎝ × 23㎝)

3/4″ (2㎝) wide D ring and Swivel Snap

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern.
And fuse the fusible fleece, centered, to the wrong side.

Cut by adding 3/8” from the edge of the interfacing.

Place the right sides together of the outer and lining of the zip pocket and sew an L shape.

Turn it over and press it. Place the zipper to the shape and sew.

Place the upper plate according to the shape of the pattern and sew.

Place the left plate and sew.

The front of the bag is ready.

With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge. Pin in place. Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.

Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a 4-inch opening. And combine the seams so that a flat base is formed. Sew 1¼″ long.

Turn out our clutch bag through the hole that we left not stitched. After this, sew up this hole.

Attach a wrist strap, and the clutch bag is ready!

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
