EASY BACKPACK TUTORIAL

Backpack is so convenient and easy to carry especially on a day out. This easy backpack is simple to sew if you have the basic sewing skills how to sew a straight line and how to sew curves and corners. Just follow the step-by-step instructions and you will have your own backpack.

How to make a simple Backpack for adult

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 11″ (28㎝) W × 14¾″(37㎝) H × 6″(15㎝) D.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( cotton canvas 1 yard )
2   11¾″ × 14¼″(30㎝ × 36㎝)
1   11¾″ × 9¼″(30㎝ × 23㎝)
2   6¾″ × 15½″(17㎝ × 39㎝)
2   6¾″ × 8¾″(17㎝ × 22㎝)
2   8¾″ × 9½″(22㎝ × 24㎝)

Lining ( quilting cotton 1/2 yard )
2   17¾″ × 18½″(45㎝ × 46.5㎝)
2   6¾″ × 7⅛″(17㎝ × 18㎝)

1 Strip of 3/4″ (2㎝) wide Webbing Strap 8¾″(22㎝)
1 Strip of 1¼″ (3㎝) wide Webbing Strap 79″(200㎝)
1/2″ Grommet Eyelets 8 sets
1¼″ (3㎝) Plastic Ladder Slider
18㎜ Magnetic button
5㎜ Cotton Cord 39½″ (100㎝)
Cord Lock

Place the right sides together of the two outer layer and sew 3 sides with an allowance of about 3/8″. With sharp scissors make small snips on both sides of the curved edge. Turn right side out.

Place the right sides together of the outer and lining and sew with an allowance of about 3/8″. Turn over to show the outside, then topstitch.

Place the pocket onto the side panel fabric. Sew 3 sides.

Place the webbing strap onto the back panel fabric.

Place the cover, right side down on top. Pin in place. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Open out, and top stitch.

Sew the front, bottom and back of the bag to connect them.

Sew the side panels on both sides of the bottom.

Sew along the front and side panels.

Sew along the back and side panels.

Face the outer and lining fabric, align the bag entrance. Sew all the way around of the bag entrance with a seam allowance of 3/8″.

Turn out our backpack through the opening of the lining. After this, sew up this hole.

Apply grommet eyelets and insert the string.
