DIY Crossbody Bag with Zipper

Today, I made a crossbody bag that has many pockets and is convenient to use. This bag also has a zip closure to keep things from getting lost and has an adjustable shoulder strap. Anyone can make this bag if you can just sew straight and zipper.

How to make a small shoulder bag with pockets

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 9⅛″(23㎝) W × 7″(17.5㎝) H × 2⅜″(6㎝) D.

You may watch the full video tutorial on my Youtube channel.

Share this video with a lot of people who need it.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

2   9⅞″ × 3⅞″ (25㎝ × 22㎝) Lining
2   9⅛″ × 8″ (23㎝ × 20㎝) Fusible fleece
Front Pocket

1   9⅛″ × 5″ (23㎝ × 12.5㎝) Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing
1  8″(20㎝) Zipper
2   1⅛″×2″ (3㎝ × 5㎝) Zipper Stop Fabric
2㎝ wide D ring, Swivel Snap and Tri-glides Slide
2㎝ wide Webbing Strap 63¼″ (160㎝)
Magnetic Button

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Place the right sides together of the outer and lining of the front pocket and sew with an allowance of about 3/8″. Turn right side out.

Apply magnetic buttons. Place the front pocket on the right side of the outer layer of the main fabric and sew.

Use the same process to sew the back pocket and inner pocket.

Wrap both ends of the zipper with two small pieces of fabric and sew.

Place the zipper right sides together on top of the outer layer. Place the lining on top of the zip. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Open out, press pieces away from the zipper.

Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.

Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a 3-inch opening.

Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Turn out our crossbody bag through the hole that we left not stitched. After this, sew up this hole.

The bag straps are adjustable in length.

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
