DIY DRAWSTRING TOTE BAG

This is a tote bag with an drawstring cover.
The cover of this bag protects the contents of the bag.
It would be good to use it as a out going bag or lunch bag.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( quilting cotton ) – 3/8 yard
1  15¾″ × 17¾″ ( 39.5㎝ × 44.5㎝ )
2  15¾″ × 1¾″ ( 39.5㎝ × 4.5㎝ )
2  14″ × 3¼″ ( 35㎝ × 8㎝ )

Lining ( quilting cotton ) – 1/4 yard
2  15¾″ × 8¼″ ( 39.5㎝ × 20.75㎝ )

Contrast color fabric ( quilting cotton ) – 1/4 yard
2  16¼″ × 8″ ( 40.5㎝ × 20㎝ )

Interfacing (Fusible Fleece – 987F Fusible Fleece or Vilene H630)
1 15¾″ × 17″ ( 39.5㎝ × 42.5㎝ )

3mm Cotton Cord – 79″ (200㎝)

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Fuse the fusible fleece, centered, to the wrong side of the outer.
Draw the pattern.
And cut the outer into the shape of the pattern.

Fold the handle fabric in half, wrong sides together to make a crease.
Then fold each edge in toward the middle and press.
Stitch along both long edges of the strip, 1/8” from the edge.

Then attach your handle to the outer layer.

Fold in half and sew both edges.
Then sew both bottom of gusset.
Turn out the outer layer.

Place and pin the outer lining of the makeup bag over the top of the inner lining with the right sides together.
Leave a 2 1/2-inch opening in the side.

Place and pin the cover fabric with the right sides together.
Sew both sides.
Then fold twice the top and sew folded end.

Place the lining, cover fabric and lining patch fabric and sew together.

Put the outer layer inside the lining and align the top.
And sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Topstitch around the top of the bag.
Then sew the opening hole close.

Attach a safety pin on one end of string and thread it through the first hole, going all around and coming out in the hole next to it.
Attach a safety pin to your other string and starting on the opposite side, do the same thing.
Knot the two ends of ribbon on each side together.

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
