DIY Gathered Shoulder Bag

I made a cute shoulder bag with two front pockets that is good for holding a cell phone. There is a pleat at the entrance of the bag and a wide shoulder strap. Make your own shoulder bag in any color and fabric of your choice.

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Place the right sides together of two pocket fabric and sew the top with an allowance of about 3/8″. Open out, press and topstitch.

Place the pocket on the outer layer of the front panel and sew.

Place the back panel, right side down on top. Pin in place. Sew the both sides with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Mark the quarter points on the main and bottom panel. With sharp scissors make small snips on bottom seam of the main panel.

Using your quater marks, start pining the bottom of your main panel around the perimeter of your bottom. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Place the two linings facing each other. Leave an opening on the left side and 3/4″ on the right side and sew. Use the same process to sew the bottom to the lining of the main panel.

Turn right side out the outer layer.

Put the outer layer inside the lining. Align the bag opening and sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Turn out our shoulder bag through the hole that we left not stitched. After this, sew up this hole.

Topstitch all the way around of the top of the bag entrance. and sew the rubber band passages 3/4″ apart.

Attach the shoulder strap to the side of the bag.

Insert the elastic band through one end of the casing.

YOU ARE FINISHED!
Happy sewing!
