DIY Hexagon Clutch Purse

I wanted to make a little special clutch bag, so I made this hexagon-shaped bag.
The use of floral fabric and hot pink fabric made it a kind bag for women.
If you watch my YouTube video, you will see how to make an inner zipper pocket and how to apply a wrist strap.

How to make a bag with Wristlet strap

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 8½″(21.5㎝) W × 5″(12.5㎝) H .

You may watch the full video tutorial on my Youtube channel.

Share this video with a lot of people who need it.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( quilting cotton ) – 1/4 yard
1   9⅜″ × 5¾″ ( 23.5㎝ × 14.5㎝ )
1   7⅜″ × 4¾″ ( 18.5㎝ × 12㎝ )
1   2⅜″ × 2″ ( 6㎝ × 5㎝ )
1   2⅜″ × 14″ ( 6㎝ × 35㎝ )

Contrast color fabric ( quilting cotton ) – 1/4 yard
1   9⅜″ × 5¾″ ( 23.5㎝ × 14.5㎝ )
1   7½″ × 3⅛″ ( 19㎝ × 8㎝ )

Lining ( quilting cotton ) – 1/4 yard
2   9⅜″ × 5¾″ ( 23.5㎝ × 14.5㎝ )
1   6″ × 8¼″ ( 15㎝ × 21㎝ )

Zipper
1   4¾″(12㎝)

Interfacing (Fusible Fleece – 987F Fusible Fleece or Vilene H630)
2   9⅜″ × 5¾″ ( 23.5㎝ × 14.5㎝ )

Interfacing (Mid-weight woven – Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex’ or ‘Vilene G700’)
1   7⅜″ × 4¾″ ( 18.5㎝ × 12㎝ )

1   5/8″ (1.5㎝) wide D ring

1   5/8″ (1.5㎝) wide Swivel Snap

18㎜ Magnetic button

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern.
And fuse the fusible fleece, centered, to the wrong side.

Place the right sides together of the outer and lining of the cover and sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.
Turn the cover right side out and place on a body.
Sew with an allowance of about 1/4″.

Place the piece of fabric for your pocket lining face down, right sides together over your outer piece.
Draw a long rectangular box which the teeth of your zipper will fit inside.
Then stitch exactly around the rectangle you just drew.

Draw another line through the center of the rectangle right across.
At each end, draw a triangle from the corners to that center line.
Carefully cut along the center line until your reach the triangle, and then snip into the corners, close to, but not through, your line of stitching.
Turn the lining fabric through the hole you just cut and out to the back.
Press the opening neatly.

Time now to place our zipper.
Sewing with the front upper most, stitch around the opening to secure the zipper in place.

Fold up the pocket lining and pin along the 3 open sides.
Stitch the 3 sides of the pocket lining , making sure to only sew the lining, not through the outer fabric as well.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together.
Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a 2-inch opening on the lining.

Put the outer layer inside the lining and sew it.

Turn out our the bag through the opening that we left not stitched.
After this, sew up this hole.

Then top stitch the entrance of the bag.

Apply the wrist strap and the clutch purse is ready!

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
