DIY Makeup Cosmetic Bag

Today, I made a small cosmetic bag divided into 3 compartments. It has a flap with a snap button instead of a zipper, so this item is suitable for people who have difficulty sewing zippers. And if you give this to someone, everyone will love it.

How to make a Cute Pouch with 3 Compartments

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 5″(12.5㎝) W × 4″(10㎝) H × 2⅜″(6㎝) D.

You may watch the full video tutorial on my Youtube channel.

Share this video with a lot of people who need it.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( Quilting Cotton )
1   8⅛″ × 11⅛″ ( 20.5㎝ × 28㎝ )
1   5¾″ × 7″ ( 14.5㎝ × 18㎝ )
1   4⅜″ × 3⅝″ ( 11㎝ × 9㎝ )
1   1⅝″ × 5⅝″ ( 4㎝ × 14㎝ )

Lining ( Quilting Cotton )
1   8⅛″ × 11⅛″ ( 20.5㎝ × 28㎝ )
1   5¾″ × 7″ ( 14.5㎝ × 18㎝ )
1   4⅜″ × 3⅝″ ( 11㎝ × 9㎝ )

Fusible fleece (It is similar to Pellon 987F ‘ or ‘Vilene H630’)
1   7⅜″ × 10⅜″ ( 18.5㎝ × 26㎝ )

Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing (Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex’ or ‘Vilene G700’)
1   5″ × 6¼″ (12.5㎝ × 16㎝)
2   4⅜″ × 3¼″ (11㎝ × 8㎝)

Magnetic Button

1⅝″(4㎝) wide bias tape 12″(30㎝)

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern.
And fuse the interfacing, centered, to the wrong side.

Place the wrong sides together of the outer and lining and sew the edge.

Pin the bias tape to the details. The bias tape is placed and pinned as pictured, stitch up to the end. Stitch from the right side seam into seam, or sew manually from the backside.

Fold the handle piece in half, wrong sides together to make a crease. Then fold each edge in toward the middle and press. Stitch along both long edges of the strip, 1/8” from the edge. Place the handle on the outer layer and sew.

Place the cover, right side down on top. Pin in place. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Place the right sides together of the outer and lining and sew the both sides with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a 2-inch opening on the cover.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together.

Please check to the video on how to make a divider.

Align the divider with the side line of the lining, sew the both sides with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Turn out our cosmetic bag through the hole that we left not stitched. After this, sew up this hole, and topstitch all the way around of the top of the bag entrance.

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
