Today, I made a very large size drawstring bag with a handle. This Bag is part playmat and part DIY organizer. Try to make a simple and useful large bag.

Toy Play Mat Easy Sewing Tutorial

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 35⅝″(90㎝) W × 29¾″(75㎝) H.

You may watch the full video tutorial on my Youtube channel.

Share this video with a lot of people who need it.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Main Fabric
2   36⅜″ × 15⅝″ (92㎝ × 39.5㎝) Outer layer
1   36⅜″ × 30½″ (92㎝ × 77㎝) Lining

Handle
2   21¾″ × 4¾″ (55㎝ × 12㎝) Outer layer

5~8㎜ wide Cotton String 198″ (500㎝)

Place the right sides together of two outer layer.

Mark 2 on both ends.

Sew except for 2″ on both sides

With the half folded, cut round from the top 8¼″.  The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Fold the lining in half lengthwise, then in half lengthwise again. Cut the outer layer to the same size except for the seam allowance.

When unfolded, the outer layer and lining should be the same size.

Fold the handle fabric in half lengthwise. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Turn right side out. Stitch along both long edges of the handle, 1/8” from the edge.

Place and sew the handles 11⅞″ interval.

Place the lining, right side down on top. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving an opening.

Turn it right side out by pulling the fabric through the opening. Press, pin and topstitch around all the edges. And sew 2¼” in from the edge

Start inserting the string through one end of the casing, using a safety pin. Continue inserting the string into the casing on the other side. Next, take the other string and start inserting it through the casing from the opposite side. Continue as before. Tie the ends of the string in a knot and pull the ends to close the bag.

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
