Looking for an easy DIY zipper pouch sewing tutorial with no pattern needed? In this post, I’m showing you how to sew a structured 3D zipper pouch quickly, even if you’re a beginner. I used thick fabric to create a warm, cozy, and sturdy finish that’s great for everyday carry. Follow along step by step—from cutting and zipper installation to the final topstitch—for a clean, professional look.
The finished measurements of this pouch are approximately 7⅛″(18㎝) W × 4″(10㎝) H × 3⅜″(8.5㎝) D.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.
Let's get started!!
To make this you will need:
◆ Main panel
① 13¾″ × 9⅞″ (35㎝ × 25㎝) Outer layer
① 13¾″ × 9⅞″ (35㎝ × 25㎝) Lining
◆ Others
② 5⅝″ × 2″ (14㎝ × 5㎝) Lining
① 10″(25㎝) Zipper
① 3/4″(2㎝) Wide Webbing Strap 4¾″(12㎝)
Today we will use the rectangle fabric as is.
With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge. Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Seperate the zipper. Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.
Add zipper pull. Divide the webbing strap in half and fold them. Place and sew the strap on the both sides of the zipper.
Turn it inside out. Fold it so that the zipper is on top. Stitch lightly at points 3″ down from each end of the zipper.
Place the zipper end, the 7.5 point, and the bottom together and sew with a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Place the lining pieces at both ends of the pouch and sew them to enclose the seam allowances.
Open the zipper and turn it right side out.
YOU ARE FINISHED!
Happy sewing!
