If you’re looking for a way to keep your belongings organized and within reach, a hanging organizer can be a great solution. Not only does it help you save space, but it can also serve as a decorative element in your room. In this post, I’ll provide a step-by-step guide to sewing your own hanging organizer, complete with a vinyl pocket for easy viewing of your belongings.
The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 10¾″(27㎝) W × 23¼″(58.5㎝) H.

To make this you will need:
Main Fabric
① 10¾″ × 23¼″ (27㎝ × 58.5㎝) Outer layer
① 10¾″ × 23¼″ (27㎝ × 58.5㎝) Lining
Inside Pocket
① 10¾″ × 2″ (27㎝ × 5㎝) Vinyl Fabric
① 10¾″ × 4¾″ (27㎝ × 12㎝) Vinyl Fabric
① 10¾″ × 8¼″ (27㎝ × 21㎝) Vinyl Fabric
① 14⅝″ × 8¼″ (37㎝ × 21㎝) Vinyl Fabric
Zipper Cover
① 10¾″ × 7⅛″ (27㎝ × 18㎝) Outer layer
Handle
① 3¼″ × 11⅞″ (8㎝ × 30㎝) Outer layer
Hanging Strip
① 1¼″ × 4¾″ (3㎝ × 12㎝) Lining
Zipper
③ 10″(25㎝)
1⅝″(4㎝) wide bias tape 71¼″(180㎝)
Hook and Loop
The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.
Attach the double sided tape on the zipper, attach the vinyl fabric on top and sew. When sewing vinyl fabric, using a roller presser foot is helpful.
Fold your zipper cover fabric piece in half with the 1¼″ sides together and press.
Place it on top of the zipper and sew two lines.
Connect the remaining pockets in the same way.
Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.
Place the connected pocket on the lining and sew around all the edges.
Place the wrong sides together of the outer and lining and sew all the edges.
The bias tape is placed as pictured, stitch up to the end.
Fold the bias twice and place it on the outer side and sew.
Your hanging organizer is now complete! Hang it up and enjoy the convenience of having your belongings within reach. The vinyl pocket allows you to see what’s inside, while the foldable design makes it easy to move and store when not in use.
