How to Sew an Easy Drawstring Purse Bag with Outer Pockets

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

◆ Outside Pocket
② 8¾″ × 8¼″ (22㎝ × 21㎝) Outer layer
② 8¾″ × 8¼″ (22㎝ × 21㎝) Lining
② 8¾″ × 8¼″ (22㎝ × 21㎝)Fusible fleece
◆ Main Panel
② 8¾″ × 9¾″ (22㎝ × 24.5㎝) Outer layer
② 8¾″ × 9¾″ (22㎝ × 24.5㎝) Lining
◆ Others
① 2⅜″ × 4″ (6㎝ × 10㎝) D-Ring Fabric
② 5/8″ (1.5㎝) Wide D-ring
① Drawstring Cord 47½″ (120㎝)
① Purse Strap
② Snap Buttons

Cut the interfacing and fabric into the shape of the pattern.

Place the right sides together of the outer and lining of the pocket and sew the top with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Open out, press pieces. Place the pocket on the right side of the main panel and sew.

Attach snap buttons.

Place the right sides together of the main fabric and sew the bottom with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Open out. Place the right sides together of the outer and lining and sew the top with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together. Sew the sides.

Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Turn it right side out by pulling the fabric through the opening. And sew up this opening.

Arrange the lining inside and press pieces away from and stitch on the 3/8″ away from the top. And sew 5/8″ down from the line you just sewed.

Attach a safety pin on one end of string and thread it through the first hole, going all around and coming out in the hole next to it.
Attach a safety pin to your other string and starting on the opposite side, do the same thing.
Knot the two ends of ribbon on each side together.

Attach the Purse Strap.
