In this detailed guide, I’ll walk you through the process of making a versatile bag that can transform from a slim sling bag to a wide-bottomed tote bag, all while featuring a secure zip closure. Let’s dive into the world of DIY bag making!
The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 12⅝″(32㎝) W × 9¼″(23.5㎝) H × 6¼″(16㎝) D.

Fold the outer layer in half and sew the sides with a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.
Fold the zipper panel 3/16″ inward and iron it.
With assembled the zipper panel right side up, center zipper right side facing down along top edge. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 1/4″ seam allowance.
Attach the other fabric to the other side of the zip the same way.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.
Place the wrong sides together and sew the both sides with an allowance of about 3/16″.
Turn wrong side out. Sew the both sides with an allowance of about 3/8″.
ld the handle fabric in half, wrong sides together to make a crease. Then fold each edge in toward the middle and press. Stitch along both long edges of the strip, 1/8” from the edge.
Place the handle on the zipper panel and sew 4″ interval.

After this, sew up this hole
