DIY Double Toiletry Bag

If you want to keep your toiletries and cosmetics separate in one bag, you should watch this video. Make your own toiletry bag, a must-have item for travel. Do not doubt that you can make this surprisingly convenient bag with two spaces clearly separated. If you follow my step-by-step tutorial, you’ll soon have your own fancy toiletry bag.

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 8¼″(21㎝) W × 7⅛″(18㎝) H × 4″(10㎝) D.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

◎ Top & Bottom Panel
② 9″ × 4¾″ (23㎝ × 12㎝) Outer layer
② 9″ × 4¾″ (23㎝ × 12㎝) Lining
② 8¼″ × 4″ (21㎝ × 10㎝) Fusible fleece

◎ Side Panel
② 24″ × 4¼″ (61㎝ × 10.5㎝) Outer layer
② 24″ × 4¼″ (61㎝ × 10.5㎝) Lining
② 23⅜″ × 3⅜″ (59㎝ × 8.5㎝) Fusible fleece

◎ Inside Flap
② 9″ × 2⅝″ (23㎝ × 6.5㎝) Outer layer
② 9″ × 2⅝″ (23㎝ × 6.5㎝) Lining
② 9″ × 2¼″ (23㎝ × 5.5㎝) Mesh Fabric

◎ Zipper Panel
① 7½″ × 1¼″ (19㎝ × 3㎝) Outer layer
① 7½″ × 1¼″ (19㎝ × 3㎝) Lining
① 6¾″ × 3/8″ (17㎝ × 1㎝) Fusible fleece

◎ Others
① 16⅝″ (42㎝) / ② 8″ (20㎝) Zipper
② Zipper Slider
① 1⅝″(4㎝) wide bias tape 73¼″(186㎝)
① 5/8″(1.5㎝) wide Webbing Strap 9⅞″(25㎝)

With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge. Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.

Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

Place the Bias tape on the mesh fabric, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Fold the bias. Place the zipper, right side down on top and sew.

Fold the bias twice and sew. Use the same process to sew the zipper to the other side of the mesh fabric.

Place the wrong sides together of the outer and lining of the top and bottom panel and sew around all the edge.

Place the bag strap on the top panel and sew 2 at both end.

Insert the two zipper sliders into the zipper.
Place the zipper between the outer and lining ends of the zipper panel and sew.

Sew the outer and lining of the zipper panel together.

Place the wrong side of the zipper over the outer layer of the Inside Flap and sew.

Use the same process to sew the zipper to the other inside flap.

Fold the side panel right sides together in half, and sew with a seam allowance of 3/8″.

Place the lining of the side panel on top of the zipper and sew.

Place the outer layer of the side panel right sides together on top of the zipper and sew

Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

Use the same process to sew the zipper to the other side of the side panel.

Turn the side panel wrong side out. Place the right sides together of the side panel and top panel and sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

The bias tape is placed and pinned as pictured, stitch up to the end.

Stitch from the right side seam into seam, or sew manually from the backside.
