Here’s the simplest and fastest way to sew a tote bag. The lining and gusset can be made perfectly with just one piece of fabric. I’m going to reveal the secret today, so let’s make it together.
The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 9⅞″(25㎝) W × 9″(22.5㎝) H × 4″(10㎝) D.
Fold the top and bottom of the 20½″ wide part of the main fabric by 3/4″ and iron.
Fold the handle pieces in half, wrong sides together to make a crease. Then fold each edge in toward the middle and press. Stitch along both long edges of the handle, 1/8” from the edge.
Place and sew the handles 5 inches interval.
Fold the main fabric in half. Then fold in 2″ from the bottom of the front and back sides.
Sew down the center of the main panel.
Fold the main panel in half and sew on the outside with a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Turn right side out. And topstitch all the way around of the top of the bag entrance.
