DIY Easy Makeup Bag

I love a makeup bag that stands up while I grab stuff out of it. That flat bottom design makes the zippered pouch feel bigger and hold containers a little bit better. This is a simple pouch that can be made in no time. Since I shared the pattern of this bag, you can download the pdf file.

Cosmetic Pouch Sewing Pattern & Tutorial

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 6⅜″(16㎝) W × 4⅜″(11㎝) H × 3¼″(8㎝) D.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( Quilting Cotton )
2   10¾″ × 7⅛″(27㎝ × 18㎝)

Lining ( Quilting Cotton )
2   10¾″ × 7⅛″(27㎝ × 18㎝)

Zipper
1   6″(15㎝)

Fusible fleece (It is similar to Pellon 987F ‘ or ‘Vilene H630’)
2   10″ × 6⅜″ (25㎝ × 16㎝)

Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern.
And fuse the fusible fleece, centered, to the wrong side.

Bend zipper ends in place and sew (at both the pull side and end stop side). With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge. Pin in place.

Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Open out, press pieces away from the zipper.

Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.

Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a 3-inch opening.

Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Turn right side out through the hole that we left not stitched. After this, sew up this hole, and the cosmetic bag is ready!

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
