DIY Half Moon Coin Purse with Free Pattern

Today, I made a cute and flat zipper pouch. It is a good size to use as a small wallet or cosmetic pouch. I’ve shared a free pattern for making this, so try your own coin purse.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( Quilting Cotton )
2   6¾″ × 4⅜″ (17㎝ × 11㎝)
1   9½″ × 1½″ (24㎝ × 4㎝)

Lining ( Quilting Cotton )
2   6¾″ × 4⅜″ (17㎝ × 11㎝)
1   9½″ × 1½″ (24㎝ × 4㎝)

Zipper
1   8″(20㎝)

Fusible fleece (It is similar to Pellon 987F ‘ or ‘Vilene H630’)
2   6″ × 3⅝″ (15㎝ × 9㎝)
1   8¾″ × 3/4″ (22㎝ × 2㎝)

Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern. And fuse the fusible fleece, centered, to the wrong side. Cut the fabrics by adding 3/8” from the edge of the interfacing.

Place the zipper between the outer and lining and sew both ends.

Turn right side out. Sew the outer and lining edges together.

Place the right side of the zipper panel on the outer layer of the main fabric. The small snips will help the zip adapt to the curved edge of the pouch and make the inserting the zip easier. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Place the lining, right side down on top. Pin in place. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a 2-inch opening.

Turn right side out through the opening.

Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zipper panel the same way.

Sew up the openings by blind stitch.

And turn right side out.

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
