DIY Simple Fanny Pack

This is a small fanny pack or waist bag for children.
The simple design with only one pocket makes it easy to make.
Try to make this cute bag with the pattern I shared.

Small Size Waist Bag Tutorial & Free Pattern

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 10½″(26.5㎝) W × 5″(12.5㎝) H × 2″(5㎝) D.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( quilting cotton )
1  13⅞″ × 8¼″ (35㎝ × 21㎝)
1  14⅝″ × 5″ (37㎝ × 12.5㎝)
4  3″ × 3¼″ (7.5㎝ × 8㎝)

Lining ( quilting cotton )
1  13⅞″ × 8¼″ (35㎝ × 21㎝)
1  14⅝″ × 5″ (37㎝ × 12.5㎝)

Zipper
1  12″(30㎝) or more

Interfacing (Fusible Fleece – 987F Fusible Fleece or Vilene H630)
1  13⅞″ × 8¼″ (35㎝ × 21㎝)
1  14⅝″ × 5″ (37㎝ × 12.5㎝)
2  3″ × 3¼″ (7.5㎝ × 8㎝)

1  Strip of 1″ (2.5㎝) wide Webbing Strap 39⅜″ (100㎝)

1″ (2.5㎝) Buckle and Tri-Glide Slide

 

Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern.
And fuse the fusible fleece, centered, to the wrong side.

With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing down along top edge.
Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place.
Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

With assembled outer layer right side up, center zipper right side facing down along top edge.
Pin in place.
Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Then, place the lining, right side down on top. Pin in place.
Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together.
Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a 3-inch opening on the lining.

Sew a strap between pieces of fabric.
Turn right side out.
Then put the strap panel to the both sides of the bag.

Sew up the opening.
And apply Buckle and Tri-Glide Slide.
