DIY ZIPPER PURSE HANDBAG

Today, I made a handmade bag with a leather handle.
The zipper closer part is curved, making it a feminine bag.
The inside of the bag is equipped with a zipper pocket to make it convenient to store wallets and mobile phones.
I showed you in detail so that you can follow the video step by step.

How to sew a inside zipper pocket [sewingtimes]

The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 16⅝″(42㎝) W × 11⅛″(28㎝) H × 4″(10㎝) D.

You may watch the full video tutorial on my Youtube channel.

Share this video with a lot of people who need it.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( quilting cotton )
2  17¼″ × 13¾″ (44㎝ × 35㎝)
4  2⅜″ × 2⅜″ (6㎝ × 6㎝)

Lining ( fabric )
2  17¼″ × 13¾″ (44㎝ × 35㎝)
1  9½″ × 12¼″ (24㎝ × 31㎝)

Zipper
1  8″(20㎝), 1 16″(40㎝)

Interfacing (Fusible Fleece – 987F Fusible Fleece or Vilene H630)

2  16½″ × 13″ (42㎝ × 33㎝)

Leather Purse Handles

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern.
And fuse the fusible fleece, centered, to the wrong side of the outer layers.

Quilt it in any design you like.

Place the pocket lining face down, right sides together over the outer layer.
Draw a long rectangular box which the teeth of a zipper will fit inside.
Then stitch exactly around the rectangle.
Draw another line through the center of the rectangle right across.
At each end, draw a triangle from the corners to that center line.
Carefully cut along the center line, and then snip into the corners.
Turn the lining fabric through the hole and out to the back.
Press the opening neatly.
Place the zipper.
Sewing with the front upper most, stitch around the opening to secure the zipper in place.
Fold up the pocket lining and pin along the 3 open sides.
Stitch the 3 sides of the pocket lining.

Place the zipper centred right sides together (zipper pull down) on top of the outer layer.
Place the lining on top of the zip.
Use pins, while sewing a 3/8” from the raw edge down the zipper.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.
Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.

Sew the sides and bottom of the bag, leaving a opening.

Turn it right side out by pulling the fabric through the opening.
And sew the opening hole close.

Put the zipper finish on both ends of the zipper and fix it.

Sew leather handles with hand sewing.

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
