Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

I made a cute mini zipper bag in the past. Thankfully, several people have requested to make it in a larger size. If you are wondering how to make a cute bag, check out the video below.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Main Fabric
② 17″ × 15¼″ (43㎝ × 38.5㎝) Outer layer
② 17″ × 15¼″ (43㎝ × 38.5㎝) Lining
② 16¼″ × 14½″ (41㎝ × 36.5㎝) Fusible fleece
Front Pocket
① 17″ × 8″ (43㎝ × 20㎝) Outer layer
① 17″ × 8″ (43㎝ × 20㎝) Lining
① 16¼″ × 7⅛″ (41㎝ × 18㎝) Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing
Back Pocket
① 8¼″ × 8″ (21㎝ × 20㎝) Outer layer
① 8¼″ × 8″ (21㎝ × 20㎝) Lining
① 7½″ × 7⅛″ (19㎝ × 18㎝) Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing
Inside Pocket
① 17″ × 8″ (43㎝ × 20㎝) Outer layer
① 17″ × 8″ (43㎝ × 20㎝) Lining
① 16¼″ × 7⅛″ (41㎝ × 18㎝) Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing
Zipper
① 15⅞″(40㎝)
1¼″(3㎝) wide Webbing Strap 102⅛″(260㎝)

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video.

Place the right sides together of the outer and lining of the pocket and sew the top and bottom with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Turn right side out and iron them. Then Top stitch only the upper part.

Place and sew the prepared pockets on the outer layer and lining of the main fabric.

Make the back pocket the same way. Place on top of the back of the main fabric and sew.

On the front side, place handles at intervals of 5⅛″. And overlap the horizontally long handle on top of it.

On the back sides, place the bag straps from the bottom.

With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge. Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Open out, press pieces away from the zipper.

Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way.

Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a n opening on the lining.

Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Turn out the bag through the hole that we left not stitched. After this, sew up this hole.

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Congratulations! You have just made a stylish and functional zipper closer tote bag for your travel adventures. Feel free to customize the bag with additional pockets or embellishments to suit your style and needs.

Happy sewing!
