Is it just me, or does every pencil pouch eventually become a “black hole” where pens go to disappear? I was so tired of digging through my bag every time I needed a highlighter. That’s why I’m so excited to share this latest project!
This multi-section pencil case is honestly a game-changer for my desk setup. It’s got these genius accordion-style dividers that keep everything standing upright and visible. No more frantic searching during meetings or classes! If you’ve been looking for a way to bring some peace to your stationery chaos, you’ve got to try making this one. It’s functional, it’s sleek, and it feels so good to finally be 100% organized.
The finished measurements of this bag are approximately 4″(10㎝) W × 8″(20㎝) H × 2″(5㎝) D.

Let's get started!!
To make this you will need:
◆ Main panel
② 4¾″ × 8¾″ (12㎝ × 22㎝) Outer layer
② 4¾″ × 8¾″ (12㎝ × 22㎝) Lining
② 4″ × 8″ (10㎝ × 20㎝) Fusible fleece
◆ Zipper panel
② 20½″ × 1⅝″ (52㎝ × 4㎝) Outer layer
② 20½″ × 1⅝″ (52㎝ × 4㎝) Lining
② 19¾″ × 3/4″ (50㎝ × 2㎝) Fusible fleece
◆ Bottom panel
① 3⅜″ × 2¾″ (8.5㎝ × 7㎝) Outer layer
① 3⅜″ × 2¾″ (8.5㎝ × 7㎝) Lining
② 2⅝″ × 2″ (6.5㎝ × 5㎝) Fusible fleece
◆ Inner pocket
② 4¾″ × 13½″ (12㎝ × 34㎝) Contrast Color Fabric
◆ Side panel
② 7½″ × 12⅝″ (19㎝ × 32㎝) Contrast Color Fabric
② 6¾″ × 6″ (17㎝ × 15㎝) Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing
◆ Divider
② 4¼″ × 12⅝″ (10.5㎝ × 32㎝) Contrast Color Fabric
② 3⅜″ × 6″ (8.5㎝ × 15㎝) Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing
◆ Handle
② 5⅝″ × 1⅝″ (14㎝ × 4㎝) Outer layer
◆ Others
① 19¾″(50㎝) Zipper_seam allowance excluded
① 1⅝″(4㎝) Wide bias tape 51⅜″(130㎝)
Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern. Fuse the fusible fleece, centered, to the wrong side.
Place and sew the handles 2″ apart.
Place the inner pocket on the right side of the lining and sew.
Fold the side panel and the divider fabric in half and sew the bottom edges. Flip the side panel and the divider fabric right side out and stitch the top edge. Align the divider with the folded edges of side panel and sew them together.
Place the wrong sides together of the outer and lining and sew all the edges.
With assembled lining right side up, center zipper right side facing up along top edge. Place the outer layer, right side down on top. Pin in place. Using your zipper foot, sew along top edge using a 3/8″ seam allowance. Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zip the same way. Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.
Sew the zipper panel and bottom panel together to form one circle.
Do this by marking the quarter of your main panel and the quarter of your side panel. Now, using your quarter marks, start pining the bottom of your side panel around the perimeter of your main. Sew all the edges with an allowance of about 3/8″.
Place the bias tape right sides together with the seam and clip in place. Sew in place. Press the seam toward the bias tape. Fold the edge of the bias tape over the seam allowance. Then fold over again flush with the seam. Press in place. Stitch along the folded edge of the bias tape.
YOU ARE FINISHED!
Hope this project brings some peace to your stationery chaos! Happy crafting, and I’ll see you in the next post!
