Easy & Slim Cosmetic Pouch Tutorial

The finished measurements of this pouch are approximately 8″ (20㎝) W × 1¼″(3㎝) H × 1¼″(3㎝) D.

You may watch the full video tutorial on my Youtube channel.

Share this video with a lot of people who need it.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.

Let's get started!!

To make this you will need:

Outer layer ( quilting cotton )
2   10″ × 3″(25㎝ × 7.5㎝)
2   1¼″ × 2″(3㎝ × 5㎝)

Lining ( quilting cotton )
2   10″ × 3″(25㎝ × 7.5㎝)

Zipper
1   8″(20㎝)

Mid-weight woven fusible interfacing (Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex’ or ‘Vilene G700’)
2   9¼″ × 2¼″ (23㎝ × 5.5㎝)

The pattern for making this can be drawn by yourself by watching my YouTube video. Cut the interfacing into the shape of the pattern. Fuse the interfacing, centered, to the wrong side. Cut by adding 3/8” from the edge of the interfacing.

Do this by marking the center of your outer layer and the center of your zipper.

With assembled outer layer right side up, center zipper right side facing down along top edge.

Place the lining on top of the zipper. Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Open out, press pieces away from the zipper.

Attach the outer and lining to the other side of the zipper the same way.
Open out, press pieces away from and top stitch on both 1/8” away from the zipper.

Flip the layers so the outer bag pieces are right sides together, and the lining pieces are right sides together. Sew long sides with an allowance of about 3/8″, leaving a 2-inch opening on the lining.

Sew each side of the outer and lining.

Combine the seams so that a flat base is formed.
Sew with an allowance of about 3/8″.

Both sides of the top with a zipper are sewn together by folding the outer and lining together. (Check the video for details.)

Turn out our pencil case through the hole that we left not stitched.
After this, sew up this hole by manually.

YOU ARE FINISHED!

Happy sewing!
